Are Swinger Clubs Safe? My Night With Penthouse Playrooms

Are Swinger Clubs Safe? My Night With Penthouse Playrooms After spending an evening with Penthouse Playrooms in Dunstable, I have just boarded the train to return to London Kings Cross. It’s a grey and positively dreary Sunday morning. But, I couldn’t care less! Post swinger party bliss is a thing, and currently, I’m revelling in it.

Probably the largest club I have been to, Penthouse Playrooms is one I have wanted to visit for a while. Marketing itself as a ‘European style Fetish Dance Club’, I was intrigued to see what this meant exactly! From what I had read and heard from other swingers, I was in for a treat, but I wanted to put the club through its paces.
This review is not only going to give you a sneaky peak of what to expect inside (think private playrooms and probably the BIGGEST custom-built kink bed I’ve ever seen) but also how to become a member!

The club, located a few miles outside of Luton city centre, has recently been refurbished and reopened by new owner Emma.
The Saturday night event was open for single girls and couples, and you know I absolutely love playing with couples, and last night did not disappoint. If you want to find out how I played and who I played with, you can read all about this here in my members only.

So, if you are sitting comfortably, I shall begin.

Who Visits The Club? Who Is Penthouse Playrooms For?

I visited on a Saturday night, which was open to single ladies and couples. However, they do cater for single guys too and have events on a Friday night where they allow single guys and couples. They also host Bi and Gay nights too. So, all in all, they are a pretty inclusive club!
With this club, I found a huge age range between the guests. There were a few guests in their early 20s, a few in their late 50s, and everyone in between.
The club also encourages Bisexual swingers, and T-girls and hosts dedicated events for both. Inclusivity is paramount here, and it appears that the organisers are aware that for their guests to have a great time, they have to feel they are in an environment where they can express themselves fully.

Where Is It Located?

Approximately 15 mins from Luton city centre. The club is in a discreet location, and to be honest, if I were a less experienced swinger or a first-time swinger, I would have been hesitant. I did raise this with the doorman later on in the evening, who told me that it is tucked away because they wish to remain discreet to discourage non-members from turning up at the door on the off chance they would be let in. I found it after a few minutes, and the postcode found on the website is correct. You have to walk all the way to the end of the little road behind the petrol station, and you will find the club.
The doorman said that sometimes guests had rung the club before, and he had given them directions, so if you get stuck, that could be useful!
The club was really easy to reach from central London, and I took the train from Kings Cross St Pancras, but you could also drive. There is a small amount of parking close to the club, and a larger car park close by. You can, of course, reach the club by public transport; the bus from Luton is every 7 minutes. I took an uber from my hotel in Luton city centre, and it only cost me £11.

Did I feel Safe In The Club?

Being a single girl, safety is always my top priority, and I have to say, Penthouse playrooms is probably one of the safest clubs I have visited. Not that other clubs have been ‘unsafe’, but the security staff made me feel well cared for.
As soon as I arrived, I sensed that they weren’t there simply to ‘chuck people out’ but also to look after the guests inside.

I was given a full tour by manager Dee, who showed me each room, all the play areas and answered all my questions; nothing was too much trouble for her and her fantastic team of staff.
I felt really comfortable once inside and had no reservations about exploring the club on my own and chatting to other guests. About an hour into the evening, I stripped off my little black dress and felt relaxed enough to simply wear my red underwear.

Dee told me that they were now getting up to 20 single girls attending their mixed and couples events, which means they must be doing something right! And, from the people I met, I could see this to be true! Single women exploring the lifestyle made up a fair proportion of the guests.

How Were People Playing?

Although there was an orgy room, most people played in smaller groups and swapped partners as a foursome. There wasn’t a mass orgy going on, and most of the play that I saw was in the designated couples room.
With so many private rooms, if you are a fan of private play, then this club is definitely for you.
There was a lot of play between women and lots of soft swap happening.

Costs and Membership

They operate an annual membership, and it’s really affordable. The current prices are £15 for single women, £20 for couples and £35 for single guys. It is pretty good value when you look at the number of events they offer.
Ticket prices for events vary, but they are still quite affordable, unlike other London based clubs, where the entrance fee can be upwards of £70 a night. The night I attended, couples paid £30 a ticket, and single girls paid £15.
You can apply to be a member online through their website.

And here’s a tip: when they accept new members, the club owners look to see if you are on fab swingers and if you have had any verifications from other swingers on fab.
If you want to be accepted as a member, familiarise yourself with fab swingers, make a great profile, get involved in the swinger lifestyle, and apply for membership.
You don’t have to have met other swingers and played with them to get a verification. You can arrange a vanilla date or even a webcam chat date, but the event organisers need to see that you are genuinely in the lifestyle before they grant your membership.
This process is very normal, and it means that once you are a member, you will be surrounded by other like-minded people who are there for the same reasons.
Alternatively, you can be recommended to them by an existing member. As I said, you don’t have to be experienced, but you do have to be familiar with the lifestyle. Jumping through these hoops is most definitely worth it. Making a profile on fab is worth it too, you will meet loads of great swingers.

What Facilities Are Available?

One thing the club is not short on is space. The Penthouse Playrooms is a sprawling sexy super club. From the minute you walk in, you are greeted with a huge dance floor to the left, complete with its own pole, DJ booth, and gold sofa. And to the right, you have the bar and two more extremely plush sofas. Deeper into the club, you will find private couples playrooms, a sex swing, a couples-only room (where I played), glory holes, and an orgy room.
If this doesnt get you going, you will find the biggest, custom made, cast iron BDSM bed I have ever seen by venturing further into the club. Complete with its own slave cage beneath it; well, you don’t want your slave in bed with you, do you now?

Next to the bed, I also found a st Andrews Cross, a selection of paddles and floggers.
If BDSM isn’t your thing, maybe I can entice you with a dedicated porn cinema? At the end of the club, you will find a cinema, kitted out for people to play in.
Instead of seats, the whole space is padded so that you can have sex whilst watching the screen, should you wish to, oh and there’s a private playroom up there too!
Walk past the cinema, and you will find designated lockers and changing rooms, toilets, and a shower room.
So when we are talking about facilities, There’s a lot to discover here.

What Else Do They Offer?

As well as the Saturday night event, which was for couples and single ladies, they also offer specialist BDSM nights, demonstrations organised by kink experts, think shibari and impact play. Manager Dee told me they have also started running BDSM bigs and littles and pet play nights, which have been popular.
They also have greedy girl parties on Fridays, which single guys can attend and Black Man Fan Club parties.
If your diary isn’t full already, they offer daytime Milf events from 12-5 pm every first and third Tuesday of the month.

Where Did I Stay?

I stayed at the Premier Inn in Luton Town centre, which was close to the station, approximately a 10-minute walk, and only 15 minutes drive from the club.
It offered a 24-hour reception, which I found reassuring when I returned late after the party and check out on Sunday was ‘before 12,’ meaning I could relax in bed without rushing off.
Interestingly, upon arrival at the hotel, I found a sex shop located almost opposite, so if you wanted to have a post or pre swinger party browse, you could so very easily.

Why Do I Recommend The Pent House Playrooms

Penthouse playrooms offer a lot, all under one roof. Yes, it can be hard to know where to go at first; I was like a kid in a candy shop! But if you like variety to your swinging, you will love this.
If you are looking for a club where you can dance, smooch, play in public, watch porn, enjoy the BDSM themed rooms, and have private play should you wish to, you will love this club. There is something for everyone here.
Not only do they offer a lot of facilities on-site, but they create a relaxed yet upbeat environment.
It’s hard not to want to go and dance and twirl around the pole or sink into the sofas and smooch with sexy new friends.

I think a lot of this comes from the fact that there’s no expectation of playing, getting undressed, or getting involved in the action. Some couples remained within their couples and were quite happy to have other people watch them.
Others enjoyed fully swapping with other swingers, whereas some were happy to just be in the club with their partners.
There’s no ‘get undressed’ by a certain time rule, and although they do have a smart/ sexy dress code, if you like to wear fetish gear or a particular type of dress-up outfit, that’s fine too.

Who Wouldn’t I Recommend This Club For?

If you are entirely new to swinging and are yet to even venture onto fab swingers, then this club probably isn’t for you.
It’s not that you can’t visit, but the hosts like you to be involved in the lifestyle before you get a membership. First-time swingers can attend, but they have to show they are a genuine member of the fab community.
And if you are a single guy, you can visit, but you will have to be prepared to jump through some hoops. As with any swingers club, this isn’t uncommon, but to be granted a membership, you have to show verifications from other swingers that you have met on Fab, or be recommended by an existing member.

Will I be Back to Penthouse Playrooms?

Yes! It’s in a great location, has lots of different nights to choose from and is by far the biggest club I have ever seen.
The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. They are accomodating, welcoming and work hard to make each guest feel at home.

Come and get involved on social!
